Happy Belated

So it's a few days past... but Happy Valentine's Day. Derek and I actually got a chance to go out sans kids... the first time since we had them (6 years ago!). We went to see Firewall. It was actually very enjoyable. Then we popped in to see my Dad at his new part-time job... that was weird. He's never worked for anyone his whole entire life! Picked up some groceries and topped the evening off with some peanut buster parfaits! Yum!

And so today it's -46 C out! Yikes. School's cancelled and my three monkeys are home! We implemented a chart system this morning and the house actually got clean. So far so good!

It's Friday, so that means pizza and a movie for supper.

I hope I can get my scrap space clean!

Jack: "Mom... can we buy more of these shoes?".
Me: " I don't think so."
Jack: "Why?"
Me: "Well, sometimes they make shoes for a bit and then they change and they make different kinds."
Jack: "Oh... that's terrible".

Knock on wood, Lola's been good today... letting her out every 1/2 hour working so far.

Lots of things tinkering in my head for the store:
- orders
- classes
- new items not necessarily from scrapbooking manufacturers (tins, etc.)
- Super Scrap Day (donations, etc.)
hmmm...

And yet, I want to scrap so bad! That always happens after Thursday crops!!

It's cropping time!!

So our MSS February Quick Crop is winding down... just three little hours to wet your whistle! I managed to finish one layout (which I'll try to link to tomorrow... it's not working today).
Tomorrow morning we'll be continuing our crop.... hope to see you there!

Little things...

- Max falling asleep on the way home everday (around 4pm)

- Caramilk bars

- Jack putting on his rubber boats and pretending to be a cowboy

- Molly doing so well at reading. Reading Mr. Mugs books with Mrs. Klassen. My grade one teacher AND grade one readers! Too funny!

- time spent scrapbooking

- organizing our papers, school forms, etc.

- white candles (about a dozen all clustered together)

Got a little scrapping done this last week. I really like how the Studio one turned out. The others.... well those are ones that just needed to be done.

Got the February newsletter out today. Some cool inspiration from Liz... very artsy! (I'd provide the link, but it's not working for me right now.)

Every week we'll be posting organization/storage tips for your scrap space. Here's mine...

"My paper storage changes all the time! This is a break-down of how it is right now...

* Patterned paper is stored in one of two ways. 1. Chatterbox, KI, Basic Grey and miscellaneous papers are stored in large baskets. I stapled index tabs to the tops of pieces of cardstock to use as dividers and also have them grouped in 12x12 paper envelopes.

2. All the other manufacturers (Scrapworks, Foofala, etc.) are stored in a wire rack from the store. Some share a shelf. I, again, use chipboard pieces with index tabs as dividers.

* 12x12 cardstock is stored in 8.5x11 paper trays turned sideways. Sorted red, orange, yellow, green, blue, etc. 8.5x11 cardstock is stored in 8.5x11 boxes I found somewhere (when cleaning out the office in the restaurant I think). I cut them on the diagonal and turned them on their sides so they'd fit below the bench my patterned paper is on.* If the paper I'm using is now less than half the size it originally was, then I put it in my scraps basket. This large basket sits at eye level to the right of one of my work spaces so I always remember to look in there first. I also have a smaller basket for scraps I think I'll be using on cards. "

The rest of the DT has some great ideas as well.... be sure to check it out.

And on the home front...

Molly and I are working on her counting by 5's and 10's. She always gets stuck after 15 ("5,10,15,16...). She also brought home her first Mr. Mugs book yesterday! I totally loved Mr. Mugs when I was a kid! I can't believe they're still using it!! Awesome! She spent 40 minutes reading yesterday! Love to see that!

Derek's very overwhelmed with work right now... which is good and bad... all at the same time. I'm going to attempt to learn Simply Accounting this weekend and hopefully take some of the load off him.

And it looks like Lola's sick. Poor puppy. Man... it would be nice if she were house-trained!!

Getting ready for the crop tonight. Getting back to work tomorrow. I'm tossing around some ideas for the Member cards. We'll see how that goes. I'd love your feedback.

Hopefully have a date nailed down with Ali very soon.

Wednesday Ramblings

Man... I am not good at updating this thing. I think because the computer is so much of my work I enjoy not being on it when I'm "off the clock". But here's some updates...

- more pricing, more stuff.
- Super Scrap Day date to be announced in the next day or two.
- newsletter should go out in the next day or two as well.
- February Card Class will be this Monday @ 1pm.... 8 Valentine's cards... only $12 ($10 for Scrapper Card Holders/Members)
- lots of stuff to do (party planning, new kits to send out, two newsletters to do, packages to mail, etc.)
- start on Derek's Valentines gift

Molly's having some trouble with her counting by 5's and 10's so yesterday we made some flash cards. You know me... anything to get a craft in.

Trying to put a picture in here... not working... don't have time to fight... gotta get to the store.

Pulled three people out of the snow here (including myself, because I was trying to pull someone else out)!

So much to do. Don't know when I'm going to do it.

Yesterday on my way to town (on the highway) I saw Mr. Isaac driving in front of me. My high school Bio teacher. Still teaching. Still driving in from the city (1.5 hr drive) every day. Still looking exactly the same. The wild grey hair. The glasses. The beard. I loved that guy. I loved Bio. The canned animals on his shelf (really... preserved piggies and everything)... like something out of the CSI lab. He didn't teach from a textbook. He was the textbook. When he spoke he'd show no expression... none. It was our personal goal in school to make him smile. Everytime we'd see him in the hall we'd say hi, ask how he was doing... something to crack the shell. I really liked him. A great person. A great teacher.

Wow... I ramble!
