Just a reminder that my interview on Scrapper's Talk Radio is up.

Work weekend

Had to work for my Dad today. His schedule at Rona got screwed up (again), so I had to cover for him at the video store/shoppe from 10-2. No problem. Brought a box of stuff (already priced), but didn't get it set up... so if you're at the shoppe and you see a box on the floor... feel free to snoop through it! (3 more boxes left and I'm caught up!)

Plus I got to see Bryan today, which was a pleasant bonus!!

Instead I was working on the Winkler Horticultural Cenntenial Album. I got the blueprint of it done (3 hours later). At least I know what I'm doing now... nice... especially since they want it by August 1st!!! This will be a huge challenge... since I've been given Creative Memories stuff to implement (including the album). Not that that's bad... it's just harder when you can't start with a plan from scratch. (Plus I'm not sure how much they want to spend on it, but I can't sit on it long!)

My weekend's packed... I have to get an order out tomorrow so that they can ship it with the Cricut on Monday. And then the Horticultural Album, 21 cards for my cousin for his business (to go out with Welcome Wagon stuff) by August 3... oh... and then there's the KI Contest (due August 15th).

OH... and cleaned my studio today!!! No extra space is coming my way anytime soon, so rearranging was in order!

Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

"Bob's your uncle"

We took the kids to the drive-in last night to see a special showing of "Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties". We got the kids in their jammies and off we went. We love the drive-in! Something so timeless and still about it. They way things used to be. The way they (sometimes) should be again. It was cute... the kids loved it (only Max fell asleep).

Derek cleaning our truck window at a gas station along the way.

Our cozy trio.

Anyhow... there's a part in the movie where Garfield (Bill Murray) yells out "Bob's your uncle". I've heard it before in a movie (I'm thinking comedy... when they were supposed to say something they'd substitute it with "Bob's your uncle"...)... and it's driving me nuts that I can't remember. If anyone knows what it is, please let me know! I'm not ready to pull my hair out yet! Stuff like this really eats away at me.

MSS news:

And you know I hate to do it... but there's new paper in the sale bin... KI Memories Pieces of Me. I hate putting paper in there. Only because it's like I'm telling the paper (yes I'm crazy), "hey, you're not good enough anymore. The new cool paper is coming and you're going to have to go". Sad. Like all those dogs who don't get adopted because families want the new, cute puppies.

Cricut arriving next week. Look for a Cricut demo and make and take in early August.

Harvest Festival is on the way. Look for a fabulous sale in early August as well.

CHA is this weekend. Lots of new stuff will be arriving soon (hopefully... my budget's a little tight right now).

Connected

High speed was up for about a half hour. We went to town and let Lola off her chain for a bit.... goodbye cable. Why she chews a cable that's been there for a half a day, and not the one for the pool (that's been out for a month) is beyond me.
But, needless to say I got nothing done this last weekend.
Thankfully they came today, spliced it, and we're good to go.
Just have to go bury now.

Feeling baby pangs.

And so... now I get to work. Hoping to catch up on all the "bookwork" part of the shoppe this week. We'll see how it goes.

Now with high speed I've got to download pics and get them developed, get some new tunes on the iPod (did that this morning)....

Here's a layout I did for the monthly MSS theme - Family Traits. I love it when it all just works! That doesn't happen a lot, but this one did. Simple, but funky... well as funky as a 30-year country bumpkin mama can get! You can find the rest of the DTs layouts here.

And the new challenge... use a blurry photo on your page... from Jen. I've got TONS of these!

The monthly project (from Leigh) which totally rocks!

The monthly foundation from Anita.

Lots of good stuff in the gallery too! With dial-up it was a chore to post comments! Can't wait to do that now!

Planning for the Super Scrap Day in November soon too. Email me any suggestions.

Technology and country-life don't mix

So I've been avoiding the computer for a while. Thought I'd be on it like gangbusters in a day or two.

Backstory...
Highspeed quest.
So they came. Told us that they couldn't view the tower from the top of the house (trees are too tall), but that if we'd put a post in the clearing they could put it up there. It'd be 2oo extra feet of cable, and they wouldn't do it until we had a trench dug from there to the house (because we have dogs). Fine. It took a couple of weeks. Tilled a trench. Rented an auger and drilled a hole for a 4x4. Ready. Signed the papers.
And they came today and said it's not going to work. They reception is too weak. If we follow the tree line up 50 feet or so it'll work. That means tilling a new trench... through the brick sidewalk we lay down last week, through our driveway and through (somehow) 15 feet of forest. So all that work for nothing! What a waste. D was not impressed! Neither was I!!! I have a ton of stuff to do at the store and I stayed home for this!
Thought I'd be doing all my paperwork here at home this week! Ordering pictures! Grrrrr.

And so the updates will continue.

Reflecting, again, on scrapbooking and art. Intertwining the two. Realizing that I'm maybe not so inspired by layouts in magazines and online as I am emulating. Subconciously maybe even settling on the fact that that is what a layout looks like... same as everyone else's... not breaking out and sharing me... my inner soul. That's what I love about the artists like Emily Falconbridge, Ashley Wren, Geneveive Simmonds and the Dares. You see them in their layouts. Not just the photos. Standing out. Not settling on the norm. These are the women who have day jobs, some maybe teaching a bit, but regular artists who just create to create... not for any accolade or validation.
Today my goal (meaning This Week, since my days seem really really short) is to take a photo and play with it. Have no idea what I'm going to do, but it's exciting anyway.
And yes, I know that I sound like a broken record.

Wrapped up Buffy Season 7 last night. Back to the beginning.

Took a 4-wheeler ride last night. Yup... picture all 5 of us on a ATV... a little rear heavy for sure! Just driving down gravel roads, along the creek and through fields... Lola running beside us. Just peaceful. Serene. Enjoying the view... our life. Calm and wonderful. So grateful!

MSS:

Added some new KI (paper this week) and some other stuff.

Super Scrap Day ideas? Pass them on.

New Fontwerks (CHA end of July)... if you're interested in a particular set, please let me know. Their minimums have been raised, so I want to make sure I get in what is wanted.

Ali book in enroute.

Ali event postponed

Shoppe News:

Bad news in Ali-land. Due to a crazy work/home/travel/life schedule Ali's postponed her visit to the shoppe. But don't worry... keep saving.... she's still coming. Ali's ensured me we have first priority when she schedules for 2007.

So it looks like we'll be having a fall Super Scrap Day. Likely in early November. Stay tuned for details.

New inspiration from Anita

New challenge from Liz

New July kit available. Almost sold out.

Home News:

Started (and finished) the "walk" around the house! A lot of work... removed all the brick and gravel from the brick pad in the back - for the new path. Just have to put dirt around now.
Enjoying spending some nice days outside with the kiddos!

Close to high speed. Can't wait.
